Brunch is serious business in Dublin, and the city has plenty of places to choose from. I’m Courtney, Founder of Dublin Heritage Tours, and over the years I’ve found a handful of brunch spots that tick all the boxes. They’re relaxed, full of character, and loved by locals. These are the five cafés I always recommend when someone asks where to get the best brunch in town!

1. Alma

Located on South Circular Road in Portobello, Alma is a family-run café with an Argentinian inspired menu. It’s famous for beautifully presented brunch plates, high-quality coffee, and warm service. The dulce de leche pancakes are a crowd-pleaser for anyone with a sweet tooth, but I'm obsessed with their sweet potato & harissa eggs. Alma’s relaxed yet buzzy atmosphere makes it perfect for a brunch date, but arrive early - it's popular!

Don’t miss: Dulce de leche pancakes.

Local tip: Arrive before 10 am on weekends if you want a table without a wait.

In the heart of Rialto, Daddy’s is a colourful, casual café with a menu that changes daily based on seasonal produce. You’ll find fresh-baked bread, generous breakfast sandwiches, and inventive brunch specials. The décor is eclectic, and there’s a real community feel - locals come here for both the food and the vibe.

Don’t miss: The 'croissaindwich'!

Local tip: Check their Instagram before you go to see the day’s specials.

The Fumbally is one of Dublin’s most loved cafés, known for its creative dishes and commitment to sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. The menu blends Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences with Irish produce, and the food is always fresh and colourful. With its open, airy space and mismatched furniture, it’s as much a hangout as it is a place to eat.

Don’t miss: The Fumbally eggs with gubbeen cheese, sauteed kale, and their homemade fermented hot sauce. Also - ANY of their pastries!

Local tip: It’s a great spot to bring your laptop if you want to linger over coffee.

Over in Stoneybatter, Social Fabric Café is a cosy spot with a menu that balances comforting brunch classics and healthy options. Think fluffy pancakes, eggs Benedict, and smoothie bowls. The coffee is excellent, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. It’s also dog-friendly, so you’ll often spot four-legged brunch companions.

Don’t miss: The house panckaes with butterscotch sauce.

Local tip: If it’s sunny, grab one of the outdoor seats for prime Stoneybatter people-watching.

Panem Café, just off the quays with a view onto the river , is a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian inspired flavours. Their brunch menu includes everything from focaccia sandwiches to decadent pastries, all made in-house. It’s the ideal spot for a quick bite or a long, leisurely meal with friends.

Don’t miss: The 'breakfast bowl' - which is like a big breakfast salad filled with rocket, applewood cheddar, avocado, and more!

Local tip: Get there early if you want pastries - their specials sell out fast!

Happy brunching!
